Our story

About LABH Federation — the Agroha tradition, run again.

The origin

Agroha was a city of traders. The custom that made it work was simple: when a family arrived with nothing, every household in the city gave them one brick and one rupee.

A thousand households meant a thousand bricks and a thousand rupees. Enough for a house and enough for a shop. The newcomer began not with charity but with an operating business, and the obligation that came with it was not repayment. It was to give one brick to the next family that arrived.

The arithmetic is worth pausing on. No single household gave enough to feel it. The recipient received enough to change everything. And the cost of the whole system was one brick per family per arrival.

LABH exists to run that system again, with the instruments a modern founder needs — capital, counsel, customers and a network that answers the phone.

What we do

Four divisions of one institution.

Connect

Chapters, member directory, matchmaking and events across India and abroad. The network is the institution's most useful and least visible product.

NEEV

Seed grants and in-kind support for first-generation entrepreneurs. Small tickets, decided in the open, with a bias for action.

Incubation

Cohort programmes with mentors, curriculum and market access for early-stage ventures.

Advisory

Business advisory for founders and family businesses. Surplus funds the grants and the incubator.

How we are structured

LABH Federation is a single non-profit company operating four divisions — it is not four companies. Membership subscriptions fund the network and the chapters. Advisory generates fees. The surplus from advisory funds NEEV and the incubator.

No part of the income of LABH may be distributed to any member. That is a condition of how we are constituted, not a policy we adopted.

What we are not

Three clarifications.

  • Not a political body.
  • Not a religious trust.
  • Not a lender.
Governance

Board, committees, and disclosure.

The board comprises founding members and independent directors. Standing committees cover grants, audit, ethics, remuneration and investment. Every material decision is recorded and published in the annual report.
